COVID-19 and Your Pets

Our pets are our families and during this pandemic we not only want to keep them safe and healthy, but also to be sure we have accurate information.

According to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) there is no evidence that our pets will play a role in the spread of COVID-19. Although one dog in China has shown the presence of genetic material from the COVID-19 virus, the animal had no signs or symptoms of the disease. There are no other current reports of animals being sick with the virus but the precautionary recommendation is that individuals sick with the COVID-19 virus reduce contact with their pets and practice good hygiene during their illness. 

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the OIE have indicated that there is no proof to suggest that our dogs and cats can pass the disease along to their human companions. More investigation is being done by the agencies to keep us posted on any developments. In the meantime, stay safe and healthy!
